well i'm touching up my room a bit, so i'll put some befores up and then afters once its done. here are some cool pictures i've found (i have an entire folder and could not tell you the websites for each picture, my apologies). they're all lovely. my room will hopefully look like a fairytale.

that middle picture is kind of cheesy, but i want to spell out a quote i like in some purple/blue/green colors (less yellows and what not). i will also be adding my christmas lights on the walls tomorrow morning! and i plan on making a mobile to clip photos onto.

I got sick and missed a day of school, and ever since, I've been behind! I'm so sorry that put me behind on blogging as well (it's no excuse)! Even after all of the homework I finished today, before school on Monday I have to:

1) Start + finish a science project
2) Read 40 pages of a book for English
3) Study for a History quiz (that will count double for me because I missed taking the quiz before)
4) Study for Math "Quest"
5) French Homework + Study
6) Make a million notecards for all of my classes
7) Physics Lab Write-up
8) Physics Homework
9) Geometry Homework

It might not seem like a lot, and thankfully none of it is hard work (except that geometry test), but it's just so much work I'm worried about finishing it all! And I really need to step up for the math test & history quiz! woooot well enough about school sjfowelsjkhf

ANYWAY that's an explanation and, again, not an excuse. ANYANYANYWAY I took a study break (I got homework done yesterday too) with my friends and we took some stupid pictures. I just thought this was better than nothing. WOW HOW GREAT! SEE WHAT I WEAR WHEN I'M LOUNGING!

My tights are from J Crew, my shorts (which you can't really see) are from a thrift shop, my sweatshirt is my dad's from when he was young. If it helps, it's Nike.

I had the most magnificent time in Europe! I can finally say I have left the US, and I am sure glad I did. London and Paris are divine, it's such a pain coming back. I know this is going to turn into the longest post ever with all of my pictures and descriptions, but I might as well get started.

So here's just a pointless picture of me at the airport getting ready to fly to Europe.

First off was LONDON!

On Christmas day, we went on a silly but fun bus tour of the city. We got off at a few stops to explore and take pictures.

That picture's just random and so are all of the other's of London to come.

Oh! And this is random but I took all of these pictures myself (unless they are of me, then my family took them) on my Nikon D3000.

And I know these pictures get cut off on the right, I'm in the midst of finding a solution for that.

Then we went on the eurostar to PARIS! These next picture I am just arriving at the station in Paris.

You can guess I took most of that shampoo home ;) but COME ON, it is Hermès.

It's the Christmas Village! I believe the ferris wheel, shops, carousel, etc. were only there for Christmas week. I loved it.

Today was to be the most exciting day ever! My generous mother drove me an hour to our nearest Target to experience RODARTE. Sounds divine, right? And then, after frantically searching the store for what seemed like forever, the lady who worked there told us Rodarte for Target opened today at the other Target Location, but not until tomorrow at ours. Let me tell you we do NOT get to Target often, and I was so bummed. How can I let tomorrow pass knowing my dreams will be sold out in a second. If only I were old enough to drive myself... Okay obviously this whole story is really over exaggerated. Let's thank God if this is the worst thing that ever happens, right? I ended up buying gloves, silk underwear (don't laugh - Los Angeles doesn't quite prepare you for winters in Paris), and a leopard blow dryer! It's really trannylicious, so that's a plus plus plus. I'm guessing you want to full picture, so

Anyway, I decided to make a Christmas Wishlist (for absolute fun)! My wonderful gifts this year are my camera (my parents helped me out), our Europe trip, and my Marc by Marc Jacobs coat for Europe! I have never owned a coat before this, so I'll post pictures of me wearing it in Paris. The list is more things I'm coveting, not physically wanting. Does that make sense? I am guessing not. Anyway, I will not get this stuff, nor am I asking for it. But we can all have dreams, right?

Now let's talk about charity, because all I ever talk about on this blog are fashion and things I want to buy. Most people who are into fashion seem to be offended when others call its superficial, but I am a fashion maniac and I even admit it. While it is more importantly a form of art, it ignores the people in the world who would do anything for shoes and a winter coat. There's definitely more I could be doing to help, and it's the holiday season and everything. As much as I wish I could help every cause in the world, I'd like to pull a Warren Buffet and put my money into Bill Gates's charity, you know? It would be nice to really make a difference in one or two charities, so I would gladly take any suggestions for charities any of you guys know of that needs long-term help.

Okay this was a boring post - but anyway I hope I can post closer to daily now! I really miss blogging and want to get back into the swing of things. More outfits and pictures soon, I promise!

Hello Hello Hello Everybody!
I've been so inconsistent, but I am back (back again, julia's back, tell a friend), but I have loads of good news.

Number One:
JE VEUX is launching this Saturday -just in time for the holidays! If you're not familiar, Je Veux is a magazine created by colleague Devin Barrett and myself. Expect tidbits of music and art, but fashion is our primary focus. Anyway, we have been slaving away (especially Devin, the Grace of this issue) to bring you a glossy that we aspire to further your expectations. While it would be great if you could keep in mind it is our first issue, please disregard our age. We are just fifteen years of age, but our demographic remains the same as that of a magazine created by glossy geniuses much older than ourselves. JE VEUX will be posted on and available for print shortly after. Please read!

Number Two:
As promised, I saved up enough money for a Nikon! I have purchased the d3000 and have effortlessly fallen in love. There are many pictures (including some silly first ones at the end of this post) soon to come!

Number Three:
Paris awaits me in one week! This will be my first time traveling to Europe, which means means PICTURES, REVIEWS, CLOTHES, everything and anything. French I this year is not my strongest subject, but let's hope its gets me through Paris. Thank God for my few days in London. Speaking English will probably be a nice break from thinking so hard. But let's face it, all that is on my mind is Paris! Any suggestions (restaurants, shopping, museums, etc.) would make for well-appreciated comments.

Number Four:
It's almost Christmas! No hate - I am Jewish, but Christmas has always tended to be a favorite. And how could I forget about Kwanzaa. My post titles are now red and my visited links are green in order to celebrate the festivities.

Long Time No See!

Everybody it has been way too long since I have posted. The bad news is that I haven't posted in what seems like years, and I haven't had much time for blogging. The great news is that 1) I ordered my NIKON D60! So expect a lot more outfits and much better photography and 2) Je Veux (my magazine) is coming along wonderfully and should be out soon! Devin Barret, our Style Director, is doing a ton too and you should all check out his quarters at therunwayroom.blogspot.com

So after seeing everything Grace Coddington can do in The September Issue, I lost all of my respect for Rachel Zoe. Still, I watched her show because really how could I not? So Monday night was the season finale and Rachel styled an AMAZING shoot for V Magazine! I think its in the most recent Lady Gaga issue. I am obsessed with it!

Jessica Stam is so beautiful.

The big picture doesn't fit everything :( but I'm putting it on anyway because it's so much better than the small one.

I just want everyone to see it and know that I am alive and will be back to regular posting very soon!

While on the prowl for inspiration, something just keeps bringing me back to The Sartorialist. You see, I often feel a lack of inspiration and start desperately searching magazines, blogs, websites, etc. Let me first express how Scott is an inspiration in himself. He makes me want to save up for that Nikon D60 and start carrying around release forms on the street. Then I can assure you the bare walls of my room and my blog would both be full. Well in the mean time, I will share with you some of my favorite images from The Sartorialist. Some of them are older while some are recent. And if Scott himself ever comes across my blog (in my dreams) and sees the post, I hope he gladly emails me (je_veux@ymail.com) if he wants me to take them down. LAURA & KATE MULLEAVY

I just have been feeling this in my head for so long and need to express it. I am in love with Laura Mulleavy, Kate Mulleavy, and Rodarte. Never has any designer (well designers in this case) taken my breath away like the Mulleavy sisters have. Every single collection of theres 1) makes me want to live in a land called Rodarte where Kate and Laura rule all and make the whole place like a living Rodarte Fashion show 2) sell everything I have just to afford something from any of their collections 3) sneak into their showroom 4) cry happy tears.

Obviously I am not the first to think this and this isn't some sudden realization, it's just that I wish my life were Rodarte. I hope that makes a little bit of sense. Just recently did I actually research the Mulleavy sisters and they have just made me admire Rodarte even more. They are seriously the coolest people on this planet and in this entire universe and cannot begin to explain how fantastic they are.

After browsing multiple photos of the runway shows on Style.com, it was obvious I would never find any designer who would make multiple collections and leave me drooling over every single piece. I was wrong because I have found two, Laura and Kate Mulleavy.

I last night had a dream that I was a Mulleavy sister! No joke, I was their little sister. It was the best experience ever in my life of reality and dreams. It was just ahhhh I can't even explain.

By the way I am sure you are reading this post and going "Julia is the worst writer on the planet" but I am just gushing of excitement and do not know how to organize my thoughts right now.

Well I have been taking non-credit courses for high school students at FIT.
Thursday is the last day of class and I get home Saturday night.
Hopefully on Sunday I go out and buy my Nikon D40 (yay no more webcam outfit posts!) and do a BIG post about New York.

I have so much to tell all of you viewers! Speaking of viewers, thank you so much everybody! I can't believe I have 94 followers! I freaked out when I got 20. 94??!?!?! That's crazy! I can't believe I am 6 followers away from 100. Thank you all for reading!

I cannot wait to start posting WAY more regularly. Once a week, at the least. I am also looking for advertisers (so I can get a little money and put it towards the camera). I am still getting the camera, but I still need to raise about $300... I have $200 set aside right now and my lovely parents are pitching in. Of course I need to start getting some money to pay them back!!

Ahh sorry that was probably really boring and nothing you wanted to read. Anyway, keep on following, commenting, and most importantly reading (and hopefully enjoying)!

I am shopping for camp and here are a few things I feel are necessary for camp.

Let me explain a few:

A crop top may seem pretty 90s, but I really like the look. As long as it doesn't turn into a complete belly shirt, I think you are safe. (If you like triblend, check out the scrimmage shirt from American Apparel).

Soffe shorts! They look pretty ugly and "cheer" in pictures, but are very cute when styled well in a neutral color. I am going to get black and navy. (Check them out at soffe.com).

T shirts... you just need.
Denim shorts are always good.
Obviously you will need some supportive shoes and some flip flops.

I wore an Eli Tehari military jacket (my mommy's) to school today w/ champagne colored my ballerina skirt (Aqua, Bloomingdales) and some killer heels (again, mom's closet).

Then I got some stuff in the mail I ordered from Urban Outfitters. I tried it on and here it is.

I also got some pretty boots but they didn't work with this outfit because I was already wearing shoes and I figured they would be cuter w/ something else.

Fall Fashion Week '09

Well, Happy Belated Fashion Week! As I checked out the slideshows on Style.com, I was astonished. My heart raced, head ached, fingers quivered. Never had a Fall Fashion Week been so brilliant. Sure, many times there is just that one collection that makes me freak, but overall this fashion week was a new definition of success. Let's review, shall we?

Ok, to be honest I had never heard of Phi until I saw the name on the list on Style.com. I am extremely excited I came across it because I think I am inlove.

The leather and the fur are just so sleek. I love the blacks and that stunning navy dress just puts me in awe.

Let's move on to Alexander Wing. He took the "Little Back Dress" and gave it edge. I loved every single piece.

And don't you love the off white dress? Classic edge.

Alright, well I will soon come back to review more. I have quite a lot to say, but I have to finish an outline for an essay on Arthur Miller's The Crucible.

Some inspiration found today (a couple of which are from Teen Vogue). A lot of people say Teen Vogue is beginning to go downhill and Nylon is doing quite the opposite. I would care to kindly disagree. Teen Vogue's spreads always make me love fashion even more than I already do. The reason I do not like Nylon is mostly because of the layout. I like that they have some cool new ideas, but I get so confused when I read it. There are random outfits every so often, and I can't keep up. I do understand why people do love Nylon though. Never in my blogging career have I been so excited to post something on The Stylish Spot. I am pleased to announce this blog's new feature: Undiscovered Blogs. So many of the best blogs out there are unknown and need to be put on display.

I introduce to you Laura of Luna Supernova.

Laura's blog is very playful yet elegant. All of her outfit choices are brilliant. She makes fashion look so effortless. I love to see when she posts something new because I know it will be beautiful and eloquent.

I asked Laura a few questions for her point of view which you can see below:

What/who inspires you? a lot of things are inspirational to me, i have a built up library of images in my head, people from lookbook, advertising campaigns, editorial shoots, designer collections which have appealed to me, an era or trend or simply a beautiful photograph. I build all my outfits around a single piece. I pick the piece then use my library of images to help myself build around it.
How did you get into the blogging community? I have made about 4 blogs before Luna, none of which ever really made it past the 1st or 2nd post. I gave up for a while, however people started asking me what my blog address was and I got sick of saying well actually I don't have a blog so I went ahead and created Luna.
Who are your favorite designers? It completely differs between seasons, but currently I love Stolen Girlfriends Club (a New Zealand label) and Lanvin. I really admire designers like McQueen, John Galliano and Vivienne Westwood who aren't afraid to take risks and revel in putting on a show.

Luella Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear Collection

Before I begin talking about Luella's Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear Collection, I think we should review 2008s.

The 2008 collection was absolutely brilliant. Every ensemble on every model was planned out flawlessly with each piece. The hair and the makeup was a great touch and I love how they incorporated the bats. The whole look was so punkish chic - leather meets florals. I adore it. I went through the whole slideshow, and here are my favorite looks:

Remember - these are just the looks I love the most.

The 2009 collection was a little disappointing. Don't get me wrong, it was still amazing, but I was excepting so much more based on Spring 2008. I did not love the majority of the pieces in this collection, but the few outfits I did love were exquisite, even better than 2008.

An Introduction to The Stylish Spot

The magazine rack in Gelsons had never looked so inviting. A variety so colorful screamed "Come get me"! I placed my hand slowly on each smooth cover, hoping one would stand out. As I touched House and Garden, maybe a little too hard, it fell straight to the floor. A different magazine, Teen Vogue, which had once rested behind House and Garden, newly revealed itself. I led my finger down side of the magazine; this was the one. I ran to the deli where my mother was ordering. As soon as she finished, I asked if I could buy the magazine, and she said yes. When we got home, I was ready to sprint to my room and read my magazine. This was not my mom's Gourmet or my dad's ESPN, this was the very first magazine that belonged to me. Emma Roberts was on the cover, so the first thing I did was skip to her interview. She mentioned an orange oversized sweater she wore with tights. That was the coolest outfit I had ever imagined; I needed to wear it! The next day at school, I strutted into the sixth grade classroom. I felt so confident in my mom's blue Ralph Lauren cable knit oversized sweater, black tights, and black high top converse. At recess, my teacher pulled me aside. She told me she was sure "[my] outfit [was] all the rage in fashion world, but it [was] not acceptable for school". I was always the kid to get teary eyed whenever a teacher reprimanded me, I strived to be perfect. I still do to this day, but that moment was different. I calmly smiled, and decided I was going to be a fashionista. To this day, I absolutely love fashion, and that will show in my blog, The Stylish Spot. Thank you so much for viewing my blog!
